Cervix question!

What is your cervix supposed to feel like in the first trimester? I've never been preggie before so I haven't a clue.

I'm 10 weeks and 1 day and I checked my cervix for the heck of it and it was very squishy and open, like more open than ovulation time and actually I can even get a finger tip in it which has never happened before. I kind of panicked there for a second, especially since I was having a lot of cramping and brownish yellow discharge that week. I googled it and saw somewhere that it's supposed to be firm and long and closed up until late third trimester so I don't know what to think and if I should worry. Help!
