Letting 4 year old watch scary movie?

Yay or nay? I let my 4 year old watch them with me and he was jason vorhees for Halloween because he asked. My boyfriends family made little comments about how it makes me a bad mom. But my son doesn’t have nightmares or anything he just loves his scary movies

i was raised on them so i don't see a problem with it. my son watched them until maybe 5 or 6 when he actually started noticing what was going on and it got too scary for him (his decision) but if it's brutal i won't let him watch it. simple scary stuff is fine but he's growing into his own and would rather watch The Flash with me lol. we binge.

my 5 year old daughter was also Jason for Halloween lol she watches scary movies too and has a Ouija board..i don't care what people think. I watched them too when I was a kid..its fun being scared.

My 3.5 year old loves watching cop/medical shows, she always asks how people got hurt and if they're ok and what happened etc, she doesn't really do movies yet but would let her watch scary stuff if she wanted to. The world is scary, you can't put kids in a bubble and expect them to be able to thrive, kids should be introduced to real life stuff as well as pretend stuff, and explained the difference.
