A baby’s scull is made up of five plates (think tectonic plates lmao). This is so that when the baby’s had is going through the birth canal the plates can shift to make birth easier on both the baby and the mother. It takes a few months for the plates to fuse together which is why you are told to be careful of an infants “soft spots” because you could pretty much poke their brain
