Today has been a rough day for my husband and I . Lots of tears and so many emotions . My son Maxwell had his 2 year old wellness check up . My husband and I expressed our concerns of his speech delay and over all development. We were referred to the regional center in which we scheduled an assessment . Well , today that happened and the results were very hard to hear. Turns out that our little guy is high risk for autism. As a parent I realize that autism isn’t a death threat nor is it anything to be ashamed of . However receiving such news definitely has effected my husband and I . Our next step is to have a full examination /assessment done by a psychiatrist or psychologist within the next few weeks . Depending on the results , we will then be set up with further care for a little guy. Though we were taken aback by today , we are prepared to do whatever we need to do to aid in our child’s development & we plan on continuing with early intervention .
