Does getting a tattoo touched up hurt more than getting the original tattoo?!

I went in for my first ever touch up yesterday! Now, the tatt that I had worked on, did not hurt when I got it originally. Omg, did that touch up kill!  Is this normal? Have anyone else experienced this? 🤔

If you were scared during the original tattoo then that would explain why it hurt worse. Some people have a heavier handed technique than others and it can scar the skin leaving parts of the tattoo raised. These are where it would hurt during re inking.

If you get a touch up fairly quickly after getting the original tattoo, it can hurt a lot more, because it takes a lot longer for your skin to heal from the trauma than when it is visibly healed.
I had to have my collarbone tattoo completely redone, and there was about two months between the sessions. Didn't hurt any more the second time, and I was actually a lot more relaxed.
