best dog for families?

I want a gentle dog that my children can love, play, and grow up with. Please no arguments about how all breeds are fine, there are certain dogs that are best for families with 6yr olds to 16yr olds and I'm hoping to get advice. thank you!

*for example, we wouldn't do huskies because they shead too much! with kids it can get too messy

*No small pets that bark because the barking is too much and if my child falls while playing they may fall on the tiny dog
