So yesterday my sweet 9yr old forgot her lunch box on the school bus. At lunch time she said she was worried but just got in line with the other kids. The other kids had a choice of a chicken sandwich, cheese and chicken quesadilla ,chicken salad ,One piece of fruit,milk,chocolate milk or juice. Well my daughter has never had a meal card (because I pack her lunch) and she had no money for lunch. They took her tray of food away (chicken sandwhich,banana and juice) and gave her a sacked lunch of a chocolate peanut butter sandwich, a box of raisons and nothing too drink.My daughter walked away crying and confused and didn't eat anything for lunch. She came home still upset and as she was telling me she started too cry and say she didn't understand why she got her food taken away.Not only was I sad for her but I was beyond livid!Why should kids be singled out and left too feel confused and embarrassed because they don't have any money? A lack of income should never equate took a lack of an equal nutrional meal for elementary children...Should all kids receive the same options of meals no matter their financial situations? I can't help but feel sorry for kids who can't afford the lunches and have too settle for a measly sandwich, box of raisons and nothing too drink while other kids get options right in front of them. * I
