Our October Elizabeth’s arrival ❤️

WARNING ITS A BIT LONG BUT WHAT AN EXPERIENCE

I went to my weekly doctors appointment on Wednesday at 10, I usually went on Thursdays but my doctor was going out of town that Friday so they moved my appointment up. While at the visit he stripped my membrane for a second time and tried to stretch my cervix to a complete 2 cm. I had been at 1 when he stripped me the week before and mind you I have tried everything but sex to try to induce natural labor. (Baby has been so low and head down for months that it made sex unbearable) When he finished he told me that my cervix was almost completely thinned out and could see me going into labor while he was on vacation so I could be scheduled to be induced the next morning if they would let him add another on. Of course I agreed because I didn’t want the doctor on call to deliver her and 39 weeks was enough for me and baby. So I walk out of my appointment knowing I would have a baby within the next 24 hours and head home to finish packing.

After I got home I was feeling a little uncomfortable so I laid down on the couch a minute, at this point there was no use in trying to keep the contractions going since I was being induced at 5 am the next morning I wanted to save my energy. Well they started coming 5 minutes apart lasting a minute. The contractions hurt but are tolerable but being first baby I figured I might as well go in thinking they would just keep me. Wrong. After spending almost 3 hours in triage being monitored I was sent home. The contractions continue but I make myself go home and sleep. I wake up about 8 and eat and then decide to try to go back to bed since I had to be up at 4. 1:30 comes around and the contractions hit full force! I’m talking fetal position boo hooing! I tell my husband we have to go that I can’t handle it. By the time we get to the hospital and get checked in it’s 2:30. The contractions are getting more intense and when i’m checked i’m only at a 3. I’m in tears begging for an epidural. They finally give it to me at 6, 30 minutes after they start the pitocin. I’m on the edge of the bed hunched over squeezing the sheets. This is no joke! I felt like I had a high pain tolerance but no no no! After the epidural is in and i’m relaxed I try to nap to save my energy. My doctor comes in at 8 to break my water and checks me and i’m at 5-6. 9 rolls around and he comes in to see if i’m dilated anymore before he goes back to the office and i’m +2!!!!!! Holy crap it’s baby time! I begin pushing at 9:15 and 5 pushes and 7 minutes later my angel baby was here!!
