If you go online and look into the hcg sensitivities of different pregnancy tests, you'll find that the dollar store ones are actually more sensitive than some of the name brand, more expensive kind.

My first 3-4 tests didn't show up anything until after 10 minutes. I never in my life have ever experienced and evaporation line on a test. Low and behold... After a few days, no line spotter was needed.
