Is over the counter Progesterone just as good as having a prescription?

My OBGYN said with the rules of his practice he cannot prescribe me progesterone cream and told me I'd have to go to a specialist or try over-the-counter products. Is there a good over the counter product I can try or should I start seeing a specialist?

my dr said the same thing, that they wont prescribe it. but she aslo said dont go out and buy anything bc its not fda regulated. i read a study online that said its not proven to help, but i sorta think its worth a try. i ordered some on amazon im just havent decided if its a good idea or not due to possibly higher risks for genital birth defects with progesterone

The over the counter stuff isn’t the same. I’d recommend just going to see a specialist. Plus they can approach and review things very differently from an OB. An OB just has a different background whereas a reproductive endocrinologist (RE) is all about fertility. They’re a huge asset so definitely schedule an appointment and good luck!
