Political Correctness
Hello CC,
Whilst scrolling through the news I came across a story of a 77 lollipop man (person employed to help children cross roads near schools) claims he felt forced to quit his job after parents moaned he was grooming their kids – by HIGH-FIVING them. There was several complaints to the council about his actions which were told to him.
The man believes this is political correctness gone mad. Most of the children know him by name and have done their whole school life. He stated that he is asked when they cross “high five Brian!” by the children.
So this got me thinking:
1. What do you make of this story? Is it fair?
2. What else do you think is PC gone mad?
3. What is something PC that you think is good that it’s in place?
Please keep it respectful, for those posting, your comments will be challenged as this is a debate section, for those responding, challenge respectfully and peacefully.
We all have differing opinions and that is what makes CC possible, it also makes us better at listening and interpreting.
UPDATE: I am fully aware as to what PC means, I am not Brian the lollipop man, therefore I cannot answer why he believes it to be a PC issue. The questions below are to ask about views on being PC.
