Lidocaine without epinephrine

So the dentist told me they can only give me Lidocaine while I’m pregnant and no epinephrine with it because it’s a danger to the baby. He said he would prefer to but can’t. Obviously I want what’s safe for the baby and I have a tooth infection so I need to get a root canal/crown ugh. He couldn’t give me a clear answer if I would experience more pain with only Lidocaine and now I’m worried about the procedure being painful. What was your experience on this for those who got dental work while pregnant? Did Lidocaine do the job just fine by itself? Thanks.
