Punta Cana, Dominican Republican - safe to travel to?

Hi! I’ve left a message for my doctor but haven’t heard back yet.  My parents booked a family vacation last year to Dominican Republican and we agreed to go, it was before we started trying but then I read somewhere to be careful traveling there when TTC because of Zika virus.  Anyone here know?!  We can’t cancel but it says if you get it you have to wait 6 months before  getting pregnant so now I’m freaking out!

Went last summer while ttc no issues. Didnt even see a mosquito.

I went to the Bahamas last summer and I was so stressed about it. we wore bug spray and mostly stayed on beaches and didn't see a single mosquito (too windy). my Dr suggested i take break so I did the nuvaring for a couple months prior to the trip. most drs are going to side with the cdc and recommend you follow their instructions but if you play it safe you should be fine. (bathe in bug spray esp if you won't be at the beach lol).

I would stop tcc and start back up again when you get back. If you do get pregnant you are taking the risk of contracting Zika which for you will be a simple viral illness, but can be detrimental to babe

I’m pregnant and my doctor said I can’t go because of Zika but it you’re still ttc you should be fine.

I went to Punta Cana 2 years ago and it is absolutely beautiful...would go again in a heartbeat if I wasn’t ttc...definitely a place to avoid if you are ttc..and yes they recommend at least 6 months time to wait after going...sorry...my hubs and I are opting for a US vacay on the west coast this year...I think Bermuda is also ok as a pregnant friend of mine just went there in September and had her healthy baby boy last week...best of luck!

CDC website says there is Zika in the Dominican Republic if that is your concern.
