Starting TTC - PCOS, BC questions - long!

Kyrstin

Hello!

In December I went to my doctor with concern about my irregular periods, as my husband and I were considering children soon and we were wondering how much of a problem my irregularity would be. She put me on birth control, and soon diagnosed me with PCOS (which I had suspected anyway). She put me on Metformin in February.

Starting about a month and a half ago, my schedule became erratic and I missed a couple pills - not in a row, but separately - and I continually forgot to take them on time. My husband and I never use condoms or the pull out method. About two weeks ago I had blood work done because my doctor was concerned about my testosterone and my insulin and glucose levels, and they all came out much better than last time, so my doctor and I discussed my beginning to TTC, and she said to finish this round of the BC and pick up some prenatal vitamins. So I followed her instructions, and I was supposed to have started my period already this week - I was very regular while on the pill. This is my last week on it, and I usually start by the third pill in the last week (Tuesday).

My question is, could I already be pregnant? I know TTC with PCOS is going to be difficult, so I don't want to get my hopes up. I'm about three days late with no cramps or the usual signs of it coming, and we had sex at least 3x a week during the month and a half I wasn't taking my pill correctly and he always ejaculated inside me, and I'm very anxious because I'm ready to start trying! Should I just go buy a test?
