How many diapers will I need?

First time mom here! I’m currently 14 weeks but I’ve decided to start putting together my registry. I’m putting diapers on there mainly for my fiancé’s Mom who wants to help us stock up on those kind of things. I am doing sizes newborn-3. My questions are how many of each size would I need and also what is your preferred brand? I currently have the honest company and pampers sensitive. I want to use sensitive skin diapers because my skin is extremely sensitive and I’d rather have sensitive diapers just in case my baby’s skin is anything like mine.

It will depend on how much your baby weighs at birth and how fast/slow baby grows. Both of mine were small so they were in newborn longer than most babies. My oldest grew very quickly and became chunky but my youngest is 2 and just grew into size 4. I would say get one box of newborn, 2 -3 boxes of size 1, 3 boxes of size 2 and 4 boxes of size 3 to start with. You will probably need more and if you do or baby outgrows them you can take unopened boxes to the store and exchange for the size or brand you need. Don't forget wipes you'll need a lot of them! In the early stages I prefer pamper swaddlers  (or even huggies snugglers) then I switch to store brand (I like target brand and Walgreens brand, as strange as that is lol). Also for wipes, I like huggies brand because they are thick and durable. Good luck!

It really depends on how big your baby is at birth and how fast s/he grows. I ‘stock piled’ diapers for my last baby, she’s almost 14 months now. She was 7lb 5 oz at birth. Aw went through 138 newborn diapers and about 700 size 1. She’s still in size 2 at 14 months, but she’s not even 16 pounds yet. She just finally grew out of her 6 month clothes and now wears 9 month. She was in 3 month FOREVER. Literally from 2 months until 10 months!

I wouldn’t stock up! Especially if you’re having a baby shower. Usually you’ll get tons of different types of diapers and clothes. Which is good, you can try different diapers and THEN stock up. Plus you never know what size your baby will need when born and how long they’ll last in each size! My baby was in preemie diapers (ones I would have never thought to buy) he was 5 lbs 2 oz when we left the hospital. He started wearing newborn at 4 weeks old. Now here we are at 5 weeks and he’s 8 lbs almost wearing size 1!

Don’t stock pile to much you don’t know yet what size or brand your baby will need once it’s born my second baby was a big baby and started off in ones but wasn’t there for long . My first baby had reactions to every brand except the green huggies I would ask for gift cards so you can get what you need when you know

To be completely honest I'm a mom of 3 going on 4 and I do NOT stock up. Back in the day it was useful, but now with the convenience of online ordering I just order as I go. I made the mistake of stockpiling with my first, then some brands didn't work for him, he basically skipped size 1s....my second baby needed a different diaper brand (so it's not a matter of what brand is 'best' just what works with your baby) and he was in 1s forever and skipped 2s. Yes you can return diapers but it's a PAIN especially with a baby, or you're now outside their return policy etc. So maybe she can put money away into a gift card or Amazon account so you can buy as you go?
