Girls I need some advices.. how do you deal with people gossiping about you?

Lately I heard some stupid gossips about me, like I had sex with a boy who’s actually a friend of mine and has a GIRLFRIEND! I know who said it is a dumb but what if the gossip arrives to the ear of his girlfriend?

I have so many people gossiping about me I feel overwhelmed.. maybe I should stop going out or be seen in public but I don’t know if this will prevent them to talk about me anyway...

please give me some advices on how to deal with all of this, it makes me so sad :(
