IVF DOCS- WHO GETS THE EMBRYOS?

Question

My husband and I will be starting IVF soon and we had to complete a few documents. One of them went through scenarios of life and death and divorce and who would get the embryos in certain situations. It was really weird because we honestly hadn't thought about it. Was this weird or anyone else? The thought of destroying them makes me sad too. I am not sure what to do.

We opted for donating them to another family in need. Going through all this has been hard enough, but at least I'm lucky to make eggs. I can't imagine a couple without that ability. Plus, "science" is just so vague, I didnt know what would actually be done with them. But, like you, it was kind of thrown at us! Good luck!

We decided to freeze them for a while, in case we want a second, (praying we get a successful pregnancy to begin with) ((also praying we have an embryo or two left over to freeze)) then donate them to science.

We opted for ours Togo to science for research. It at least made me feel better but I’m with ya! Interesting stuff to think about.
