Anyone having umbilical cord issues?

Question

Currently at the hospital , my baby's umbilical cord fell off at 5 days old- super fast! It looks like it didn't dry completely and yesterday at his 2week check up , the pediatrician put silver nitrate or whatever it's called to help it dry where it wasn't dry. 
Today the skin is like falling off, looks like a scrape around his belly button? I hope it's okay, I'm just wondering if any of your LO's have had any issues...

My daughter's ped had to help take hers off at 2 weeks old because it was just hanging and then used silver nitrate. We were given no special instructions. It looked like a scab for about a week or two. She's 10 weeks now and it looks completely normal.

Had this same thing happen with my first. The pediatrician said it would help to seal everything off and prevent infection. My son had no problems. I do remember the silver nitrate was there a long time it seemed.
