Ears pierced on a 3 year old?

Hi ladies. 
My 3 and a half year old wants her ears pierced. I don't have a problem with it, I've just never thought about it. If I say yes then I will get her some numbing cream. I did consider it when she was 3 months but my Grandparents didn't like the idea so I didn't out of respect, my grandfather passed away last year and it would be the least of my Grandmas worries now. But I still feel that it's not right when it's the one thing they asked me not to do. At the end of the day yes she's my child and yes I have the final say, do you think I should go with my gut that says I should listen the their wishes or should I let her, her friends and cousins have them done so I understand why she may feel left out. I've always said I'll let her get them done when she asks me. Any pros and cons that can help me make a decision? Thank you!

I wouldnt. But this isn't my kid. I have ears pierced and i never wear earings. I don't want to deal with any infections or cleaning them (which may hurt) changing them for her, tantrums when she can't change them. What if she doesn't like them. They can be uncomfortable to sleep in. I wouldnt let my kids (boy or girl) have their ears pierced untill they could care for it themselves. It is a wound after all.

I think its fine. But DONT pierce her with a gun like at walmart, claires, etc. take her to a reputable piercing shop where they'll do it right and with way less pain.

I think it's way too young for her to get her ears pierced. Just because she asked for it doesn't mean she should have it. They want a lot at a young age but that doesn't mean they should get whatever they want.

Maybe your grandparents just didn't want her to get them pierced as an infant? If she wants them and you want them, then go for it.

There are a lot of things my three and a half year old daughter wants but that doesn't mean she gets them. For our family, that is way too young, I think they look too grown up. 
If it's something you think is ok then make the call as her mother, don't worry about what other people might think.

I think if she wants them, and you do also, that you should get it done for her. I know it may feel wrong, but we can't always live our lives to please others, and if she doesn't get them done now I'm sure later on down the road she will end up getting them done herself anyway when she's of age, if it's something she really wants. It's your child, so your decision(of course lol) but seriously, if you think it's a cute idea, AND she wants them done, AND alot of the other girls in your family have them done also, I would go for it girl (:

I begged my mom when I was 4. I know it hurt and after they did 1 I said I only wanted one. Which of course they did both. Still remember it 28 years later. I think if she is asking you should consider it but maybe wait until she is a little older so she can care for them herself.

I had my wars pierced when I was an infant and I'm happy I don't remember the pain. I don't wear earrings but for some reason the holes never close. I've started wearing earrings recently since I bought new ones. It's what she wants. I understand what you're coming from becuz my grandma does that to my mom but honestly it's what your daughter wants and you shouldn't just let them dictate your daughters life choices even though they are family. If you want to make sure just ask your mom again if she cares about it at all and explain to her how your daughter feels about it. I'm happy that I have them now and didn't have to wait like a lot of my other friends. (I'm 16). I'm not sure you would want to take advice from a person like me but if it helps I'm happy :))

I got mine pierced before I was even one. And my cousin did too and I thought it looked really cute. I guess that would be up to you. If you feel comfortable with it then go for it

Earlier the better. I waited until my daughter was 5 and she wouldn't leave them alone. She would pull them out and now have small keloids on the back of her ears. Wished I done it at 6 months.
