Extremely late

This makes cycle day 54 for me with no period. The doctor gave me birth control to start my period yesterday but I haven’t taken it. December 23rd when my period did come I had a dot of blood the whole time and all pregnancy tests were negative. I don’t know if I want to take the birth control or not ... should I ?
