Do Braxton Hicks cause cervix to dilate?

I am 30 weeks and have a checkup tomorrow...wondering if my pretty constant Braxton Hicks contractions are reason to ask about getting my cervix checked for dilation.  Has anyone else dilated early because of strong and consistent BH?

I wouldn't get checked just yet. I got my first check at 39 wks and that was only because I thought I was in early labor the night before my appointment. turns out they were still just BH contractions but I was at 2 cm when they checked. I think they definitely start preparing your cervix but it was still another 10 days after that before I went into labor

BH do not cause cervical changes... I was checked at 29 weeks and again at 31 weeks because my “Braxton Hicks” were actually pretty painful and constant! Still closed 😃

I would not. Theres a lot of evidence that cervix checks increase the risks of PROM. Also, my OB said that the checks don’t really tell patients much because you could be 1 cm dilated for a month and not progress into active later until the end. My OB wont do checks until they’re necessary, I believe around 39 weeks.

with both pregnancies ive had consistent Braxton hicks since 20 weeks. i needed pitocin to help me dilate after my water broke with my first becauase i was stuck at 1cm for 2 weeks. not sure about this one yet! but id go with no

Braxton hicks are irregular and the come from the lower part of the uterus. The real deal will be more constant and will start at the top of the uterus. Most the time you can get Braxton hicks to slow down or stop by laying on your left side and drinking some water.

I started having real contractions around 36 weeks and I could tell the difference between those and BH. I had been having BH since 28 weeks. When I was checked for dilation for the first time at 37 weeks, I was already 2-3 cm. 
So I consistently had contractions most nights for 3 weeks until i went into labor at 39+2. I was already 5cm by the time they admitted me.
