Should police officers still try to peacefully detain people who have committed acts of terrorism?

So for example with school shooters, should police officers still try to peacefully detain them or should they be shot on sight?
Why or why not?

I can’t ignore the fact that a lot of white male criminals are walking out of a scenario alive where there POC peers would be leaving in body bags 😒
That aside though, I think if they’re surrendering and not resisting, there is absolutely no reason to shoot. If however they’re high risk, or are showing signs of going on the offensive or fleeing, then shooting is necessary. I think the police need to get better at aiming for non-fatal shots though, for several reasons.

This is gonna be long but bare with me: 
So I read a story about two guys who were playing call of duty online and were throwing insults. The typical, you’re a dick, fuck off cheat.. all that stuff. 
One of the males took this a step further, once finishing the game he phoned the police and told them that the other player had his wife and kids at gunpoint and that he was going to kill them all. The police turned up, got him out of the house, he had no clue as to what was happening. He was led on the ground and asked if he could move his keys as he was led on top of them so they were hurting his leg. As he reached he was shot immediately in the head. This man didn’t have a wife nor children. The other player was sentenced obviously. 
Hearing things like this, which is 1 in a million, most likely, makes me think that no we shouldn’t be shooting on site. 
If the officers lives are in danger, if they are getting shot at then yes. But if they are coming out peacefully then they shouldn’t be shot.

“Shoot first, ask later” is not a good idea - there are a million variables and what-if scenarios. Even if there is video evidence of someone commuting a crime, they are referred to as “allegedly guilty” until a jury of peers and a judge finds them legally guilty. There have been far too many incidents of police shooting unarmed civilians because they thought a rake, a pear, or a phone was a gun. Even in a situation like a school shooting, the police shouldn’t shoot whoever comes out, even if they are armed.

Yes. Deadly force should only be used if people are in immediate danger. Deadly force should be used as a last resort.

Yes. Police have done it before and they can do it again. 
It's (not so) funny how they're so trigger happy when a black person commits a minor crime vs white guys who shoot up schools, churches and movie theaters. They can disarm a violent individual and not kill nonviolent ones so both have the right to a fair trial. Police are not the judge.

If they are still threatening with weapons, then they should be shot. If they are complying or unarmed, they should be peacefully detained whenever possible. And like ChrisRose mentioned above, police are so quick to pull the trigger on black ppl, yet will typically exhaust every possible method to detain white ppl or white passing ppl unharmed. You know things are bad when black men are getting shot down over a speeding ticket, yet a mass shooter lives to see his day in court... Just saying.

I think that Police should remain calm and non-violent UNLESS there is a legitimate threat to personal and public safety. 
In cases of terrorism, I think it’s justified for Police to use force. I personally prefer terrorists to serve life in prison as opposed to being shot on sight. 
But I think it’s incredibly disheartening for white terrorists to continuously be treated with more humanity by police, than regular black men and women.

Yes. They should try their best to keep them alive, same as anyone they have to detain. What if we need to find out their motives, or if there’s something else planned? We shouldn’t immediately kill.

Yes,   they should  be peacefully  detained  to the best that they can.  People are creatures  of habit,  so unless you want police  officers catching  bad habits what works for one works for all.....
