Hidden twins?

I have an anterior placenta. It's on my right side and the baby sits on my left. Since the beginning my husband and I have had a sneaking suspicion it could be twins. Well this last appointment (near to 20 weeks) I was checked with the doppler by physician's assistant and they found my baby on the left as always. Then the ultrasound tech came in with the doppler and didn't believe me that the baby is on the left and pointed the doppler directly under my placenta and there was a heartbeat of 144. Could I be carrying a twin under the placenta this whole time? It's been a few days and I feel my baby on the left but I can still feel movement at the same time under and to the right of my placenta.

Aren’t you seeing the doctor? It’d be terrifying to learn that late that you have twins, twin pregnancy is totally different from a singleton pregnancy and you’d want to change your diet, protein intake, supplements, workout routine, etc. if you had 2 babies in there. 
I am 30 weeks with MoDi twins (1 placenta) and it’s anterior. Despite my placenta being on my left, I can still feel baby B (on the left, behind the placenta) moving around. I started to barely feel them at 11 weeks, occasionally at 16, and always at 20+. And i was diagnosed as carrying twins at 8 weeks. Two heartbeats are generally obvious to professional sonographers. But maybe ask them to check? I hate to tell you no, outright. It should just be a lot more obvious. Additionally, as early as just 5 weeks pregnant you’d have had SKY HIGH hormone readings in your blood tests. Your hormones to produce twins are sometimes doubled on the charts, being a major indicator as well.

Dopplers also detect a heart rate when scanning arteries in the head and the umbilical cord. And each place can have a slightly different reading. Maybe as they scanned across your belly they caught a heart rate (pulse) in a different part of the baby? If you’re 11 weeks, despite feeling the baby primarily in one area, they have a lot of space to move. I’m 30 weeks with twins and an anterior placenta. I feel them kick gently but in some appointments they literally completely change positions and I don’t feel it. And it’s a surprise because 90% of the time they are in the same position. But at a few appointments they have shocked us by totally changing it up and then later moving back. Babies are sneaky!

That's the thing at US 1 they did transvaginal and he was right at my cervix. They did no further looking really. I even said there looks like other stuff is in the sac they said dissolving yolk sack or umbilical cord. US 2 at 11 weeks it was the baby and other half was filled with placenta but there was whisp of body parts. Again they said it was nothing. Every doppler reading they immediately started on left and immediately found the baby. 3rd ultrasound. I was not allowed to see because it was an emergency one but in her discharge notes she (ultrasound tech at a hospital) had typed 1 live baby, 1 possible miscarriage. 4th ultrasound. Saw one baby saw the absence of mucus plug , saw placenta and that's what he used to measure my pregnancy and it was slightly large. 3 days later we got the doppler with heartbeats found in two separate places and in all 3 ultrasounds that i saw and all of my dopplers baby has literally been in the same spot.

I don't know if this makes a difference but the baby is literally half the size of the sack and never has moved from his spot except to put his feet behind the placenta. He always moves within his side. Before the placenta formed we had an ultrasound and it looked like stuff floating in the sack to the right of him and doc explained it as dissolved yolk sac .
