Storing powdered baby formula

I have a bunch of sample formula cans from signing up for the similac & enfamil clubs and need a little extra room in the cupboards. Can I safely store the formula in food storage containers such as oxo? I'm technically due on July 10th but my doctor has said that the baby can come anytime between June 12th & July 17th. Any sound advice would be great!
