Are bassinets worth it??

Question

I keep seeing $200+ for bassinets that actually look practical and roll up to the side of the bed.. I'm just wondering if it's even worth it with how fast babies grow. I'm interested to hear from some of you who have done this before and what your experience was. (FTM here so I'm clueless.)

My bassinet was $45 new. Get a cheaper one for sure. They’re only good for a few months anyway.

FTM as well. We plan on getting one so I can cosleep without having them IN bed with us. I think it will make breastfeeding easier. Put it on your baby shower registry, maybe someone will get you the expensive one? Look for a cheaper version though, they all do the same thing. Unless you plan on using it for multiple babies down the road or really want specific features.

Get a pack n play with the bassinet. Graco has a some super nice ones. They’re good for 3 years at least!!

With my son i asked the same question and i have a bassinet my daddy and his parents made when i was born but it just took up too much space. We were giving a rock n play sleeper though and it made the world of a difference! It is just like a bassinet but allows them to sleep at an angle, which for my son was perfect cause anytime he laid flat he peed out of his diaper lol and then because it collapses and is so easy for travel he ended up using it for months when i would have to spend time with family outside of the house. Great product!

We are using next2me and it’s amazing! It’s spacious enough to last until at least 6 months, mattress is good, you can attach it to the bed or move it anywhere you like. It’s very light as well. I’m very happy with it

the graco travel lite is totally worth it. only $100 and it has 2 levels. 1 for bassinet level and 1 for pack and play level. its perfect for a growing baby. my son was in his from birth to 7 months and then I transitioned him to the crib. and then I used it as a pack and play for a while. it a perfect height for going next to your bed too and great for visiting grandma. its a little more than half the size of a regular pack and play so its not obnoxiously large and is pretty lightweight

Found a halo on my fb marketplace for half off. If someone doesn’t get it off your registry I’d try to get second hand. But I’m definitely looking forward to using mine next to the bed.

FTM here. I registered for an arm’s reach 3 in 1 that can attached to the side of the bed as a cosleeper, be a free standing bassinet, or a mini pack and play. My dad and step mom bought it for me. I have a month or less until baby boy is here so I haven’t used it yet.
