Menstrual Cups?

Question

Do these work? They seem extremely gross to me. I've used tampons pretty much since I started menstruating. Does anyone have first hand experience using these or products similar?

They are great!! I love mine!! I used to use tampons but I never really liked them. Felt as if they made my cramps worse. I bought one of these and I will never go back! It can be a little gross to take it out and empty it but I dont mind the sight of blood at all so it's fine to me.. Once you get the hang of it they are super easy to use and you can leave them in for longer than tampons which is great because if always forget to take my tampons out in the recommended 8 hours or whatever

I was totally grossed out by the thought of this before but I bought one and it has been the best desicion I've ever made I got the lunette and it has been perfect right from the beginning. I actually forget that I have my period sometimes. I don't even have cramps anymore really, and I bleed a ton less. Learning how to put it in really isn't that bad. I just always run my finger around it once it's in to make sure it's open all the way, so I've never had it leak. Sometimes I think it's leaking but it's really not, it's just leftover blood in the canal. It's also going to be amazing when I'm travelling. I go to guatemala every year, and the lack of bathroom situation is pretty awful when you have to change a tampon every 2 hours. The cup is going to be be a life saver there.

Yes and they are amazing. Keep in mind you may have a negative view of them because of how society makes us see periods. I promise they're not as bad as you might think. I recommed cleaning out precious star pads on YouTube and keep an open mind about them. :)

I switched from pads and tampons to the lily cup compact a few months ago and I literally say "OMG I love my lily cup" every day I use it. It took a couple days to get a hang of inserting it. I used to sleep with a pad because I was worried about TSS keeping a tampon in that long. The thing I love most about using a menstrual cup is now I can sleep with no mess and no disgusting pad to deal with when I wake up. Just empty it out and wash it in the morning.  I would recommend the lily cup 100% but really any brand is better than pads and tampons.

Im a big fan and absolutely love it! It's no stranger than a tampon and much less wasteful!! And you don't have to buy that kind of stuff anymore! So many benefits to your wallet and the environment. You can also fertilize plants with your menstrual blood :)

I'm currently on the mirena so my period stopped... but before that my cup was great when I had heavier flows. I found it was still easier to have pads for the lighter days as it got a little too dry to be comfy. Extended use of the cup for me (almost two months of medium/light flow) was not suitable and started to hurt because of friction. If you've got medium to heavy flows definitely worth a go to save some $$ :)

I absolutely love my daisy cup. I got on Amazon and I got it versus the diva or lunette cups because I'm a cheapskate. That's literally the only reason why I chose that one. 
There are multiple sizes which would make a difference. The daisy also has the smallest cup (I believe) which is great because my anatomy down there is smaller than the average wonan's (read my comment about the softcup). But it doesn't leak all night or all day. I row competitively and often am doing land or water training for hours and it hasn't budged or leaked, apart from the first two or three cycles when i didn't insert it properly. (Make sure that it's "open" and not all folded up inside you!!)
Tampons used to really dry me out, so the switch was a godsend. And I don't use pads because of training. I also usually am still aware of the tampon in me when I use them, but it doesn't happen with my cup. Probably because it's further up and doesn't slide out, like tampons did sometimes. 
Money wise, I've saved close to $80 in tampons already. It's only been a year and a half (again, I do a lot of sports. And you don't take any chances with two-hour old tampons when wearing spandex)
They do take a little longer to put in/take out, but I find that it's been evened out since i empty mine at most three times a day, when I shower in the morning/night/after training. 
The little stick thing at the end was too long and it hurt, so I just took a pair of scissors and chopped it off and it was fine. 
I would say that it isn't for everyone, but it's definitely for me!!
