Am I a cheater?

Question

Yesterday my husband caught me having coffee with another man. That other man was part of my group for a project for school, which I told my husband I would be going to the coffee shop to work on. I told him exactly where I was going to be and when, and who I was going to be with. The female members of my group didn’t show up. My husband is accusing me of cheating on him, saying he’s leaving on Monday, and is refusing to speak to me. Im absolutely livid that he doesn’t even trust me enough to work on homework in a public setting with group members of a project. Am I wrong here? Am I being a cheater and not realizing it?

It’s hard to vote, you obviously didn’t cheat on him, but you should’ve let your husband know the situation right away, and made sure he was comfortable with it. Because him walking in on it, would make you look like you were trying to be sneaky. If your husband can jump to that conclusion so quickly and wants to leave,there has to be other problems in your marriage , he should trust you and understand something things like that happen . If you told him where you going, who you were with, and what you were doing beforehand then his reaction is totally uncalled for. It looks like he's just using this as an excuse to get out of the relationship.

Honestly, he sounds way over the top jealous and controlling. I can’t believe how many people are saying you should have called him as soon as you realized the other members of the group bailed. Seriously? You’re meeting for a school project in a public place that you’ve told him about. I personally would not care one bit if my husband met with a female on his own for a school project and I’ve met male friends for coffee on my own plenty of times. If you trust each other it should be an issue.

I don’t see it as cheating as long as you did tell him everything you said you did. 
Though I don’t your first sentence perplexing? Caught you having coffee with another man. I feel like caught is a little too strong there.
