What age should you start potty training your child?

When they express interest. My daughter would always go to the bathroom with me and then would want to sit on the toilet too, started potty training at about 2.5, she's fully potty trained now a year later (would only use pull ups at night or on long drives)

When they show signs of readiness. My oldest was potty trained between 2 and 2.5. My middle took until he was almost 3. My youngest is 18 months and if I wasn’t expecting, I’d try with him. But if they aren’t ready- potty training too early is just training the parent, and can actually cause long term issues if you force it too young.

When they are capable of getting pants on and off and getting on to the potty themselves.
There is no such thing as being “ready” it’s just whether or not they are capable. Parents need to be ready - to stick to it and follow through with whatever method you choose. We read the “Oh Crap!” Potty training book by Jamie Glowacki and it was soo easy!
