Can I have sex yet?

I am 4weeks pp on Thursday and my bleeding has stopped and my stitches have dissolved would I be able to have sex yet? How long did you wait till you had sex after a natural birth?

Absolutely not. Don't have sex until you've been cleared by your doctor. The six weeks is not just for bleeding, it's because your cervix needs to close and your uterus needs to heal. You have an open wound inside your uterus where the placenta tore away and having sex too soon can result in postpartum hemorrhage and infection.

I’d wait for the 6 weeks.. I’m currently 5 weeks & 5 days pp and I just had my checkup.. doctor said to wait at least 2 more weeks because your uterus still needs time to settle and also the risk of having an infection is high if you don’t wait..

I just had sex yesterday at 5 weeks and 1 day ... i also had a 2nd degree tear... but it wasnt too bad and when we had sex it didnt hurt one bit.. i worked myself up in my head thinking it would kill but it felt amazing ... ooops🤷🏻‍♀️

They say 6 weeks to stop infections.. I did it at 3.5! Weeks and lucky didn’t get a infection

my doctor cleared me at my two week follow up, I didnt tear or have stitches and bleeding stopped. That being said she didnt recommend it until I feel comfortable, defiantly not happening anytime soon. I don't feel "healed" yet.

No you can’t until you’ve been cleared by your doctor. The reason they tell you to wait isn’t for your comfort, or just to let the stitches heal... they tell you to wait because your cervix needs time to close. If you have sex before it does, you risk a host of infections and hemorrhage. I know its tough to wait because the pp hormones are firing on all cylinders, but it’s worth the wait to ensure your health.

I didn’t wait 6 weeks.. we made it to 4. I will say it’s not very comfortable.. but as long as he goes easy it isn’t going to hurt anything.
