Ultrasound confusion?

Hey ladies.
Just wondering, I have my first ultra sound booked for my dating scan. I will be approx 8-9 weeks according to my LMP.
I was just wondering if anyone knows if it will be a done vaginally or just the usual outside the tummy?
I see a lot of ladies on here saying their ultrasounds were done vaginally. 
All it says on my referral is US-Obstetric Dating scan

I had one had 7 weeks and it was abdominal. If they can see the baby and hear it’s heart beat then they probably won’t need to do a vaginal one.

Mine was done at 9wks 2 days and she tried abdominal first but cld only see the sac then did vaginal and there was our lil baby so possibly vaginally just depends i guess.

My scan at 8 weeks 5 days was abdominal.

My last one was at 7 weeks and they did it vaginally.. I’m not sure if it makes a huge difference between 7-9...

It depends if they can see everything they need to for measurements.  Mine started abdominal but they need more detail so went to transvaginal (which wasn't bad at all!).
