Opposite parenting help?

So I just found out my bf would physically discipline our future kids (we don’t have any yet) and I am super against it. There is a difference between discipline and abuse and his sounds like straight up abuse. I’m so upset about it like I never knew that about him... Idk what to do cuz we both want kids in the future but I feel like the more I learn about how he would parent I don’t want to have kids with him. But I don’t see myself with anyone else. 😔 we’ve been together 2 years and still want to wait a long time before kids and all that but idk if I can see a future now

i got spanked with a belt, a wooden spoon, the hand...never once did it cross the line into abuse.  what people call abuse nowadays was what kept kids from shooting up schools back in the day. i know, i know...thats a drastic comparison, but as long as it didnt leave a bruise or a welt, it wasnt abuse.   i mightve had a red mark for an hour or two, but i darn sure went out in public with a lot more respect than kids do nowadays.   i agree, there is a fine line between discipline and abuse...but too many of todays parents are afraid to discipline because they dont know how to drae that line.   i spanked my first two and if needed, will spank this one.  i will NOT, however, leave lasting marks on my child.  that is what changes discipline into abuse.

You may need to educate him or have him talk with a child psychologist to show him that he is incorrect. My dad was raised with what is now considered abuse (belts, etc), but my mom had him read the scientific literature at the time to show that physical discipline was bad and talked about how it negatively impacted her. She didn’t start TTC until she knew he wouldn’t physically discipline us, which he never did. If he doesn’t change his mind, then I’d find someone else and explain that you want a family with someone who doesn’t hit kids.

If it’s that dramatic I would suggest not having kids together, or being together for that matter, that will just cause constant fights and divorce if u ever get married. I wouldn’t be with him, because those r just two different parenting styles and when you’re parents you HAVE to be on the same page.
