Is this normal???

My husband and I are looking for a place to rent and this man and woman messaged us and said they may have a place for us and they keep asking us questions. They keep asking were we are working right now, how long we've been there, and how much we make income wise. Is this normal? I know they need to know how much we can pay for rent and stuff, but why do they need to know where we work and how long we've been there?
* Ok, thanks guys! My husband and I have only ever rented 1 place and my husband wasn't asked these questions because it was low income so they just based it off how much he was making at the time.

Most real estates will ask those questions. It’s to see if you are stable at your employment place or if there is a risk you could be out of a job and struggle with rent.

I was asked the same questions I think they want to know how long you been there so they know they can rely on getting paid.

Sounds a bit dodgy to be fair never give it your information to anyone unless it’s a letting agency not some random people that’s messaging you anything can happen

Sounds normal. They have a right to inquire so they can access tour dependability and reliability to pay the rent. Some even ask for check stubs. I think u find it strange cuz they sound like private tenants but the big boy apt complexes are gonna make u provide supporting documents and pay fees etc!

Pretty normal, although I usually experience these questions on paper via an application or online... But they definitely want to verify that you are in a stable working position and have upheld stable living conditions prior to moving in their place

Fairly normal. If someone is changing jobs every 3 months, then they may not be reliable to count on to pay rent consecutively. There is just a difference between someone holding a job for a year vs someone changing it continuously.

The where and how long portion is probably so they can verify employment, and establish that you aren't flakey. I.E. if you have a new job every other week. Also, to verify that you have steady income. These questions don't sound out of the normal for me. As long as they aren't asking any other personal type stuff.
