Anyone have a small wedding?

I really want to have a small ceremony, with some family members, and our daughter. We’re each other’s best friends and we’ve moved a bit together, so our friends are either out of state or we don’t have “close” friends, if that makes sense. More like work friends. We’re only close with his Mom, his step dad, my dad, my grandma, my uncle and aunt. Thats really it. Every wedding I’ve been to has a bunch of bridesmaids and groomsmen and tables full of guests, would it be strange if we had such a small wedding? Also, would it be rude to ask one of each of our parents to contribute to our wedding/honeymoon? We are funding most of it, I’m just wondering if it’s considered rude to ask parents to chip in...? Thanks!
