HSG Test?!

I'm just starting my fertility journey and my specialist wants to do an HSG Test. I've heard they are a little painful?! Any advice or want to share your experience?

I had one and it was painful for me.  it's hard to describe the pain. it's kinda like really bad cramps but it doesn't take long so it's bearable for the short amount of time.

When I had mine done it wasn't bad at all, minor cramping during the test. But after it was done and I got home I had a allergic reaction to the dye, started getting a fever, chills and went to the ER, they gave me antibiotics and benedryl. My abdomen was sore to the touch for about a week. When I told my RE what had happened she said she's never heard of that happening. I'm sure all goes well with you!

The best advice I can give you is don’t forget to breath! When they insert the catheter, they blow up a small balloon, which is crampy, but tolerable. Once he started injecting the dye, the cramps just become more intense.. I started holding my breath instead of breathing through the cramps and I got very dizzy and lightheaded and had to sit with my bare ass in the air for a while until I felt better lol.. so remember to breathe!! It’s definitely uncomfortable, but tolerable. They say take Advil/Tylenol beforehand and I’m not sure it helps, but it definitely helped with cramping later. Just typical period cramps.

Mine was very painful. I suppose it all depends on the person. The lady who did mine said it feels like minor period cramps. I have endo and I’ve never felt anything like that! However, my tubes were obstructed and it pushed the obstruction through so it was so worth it!
However, it’s over in about 2 minutes so that makes it bearable. I made the mistake of wearing long sleeves, and by the end of the test I was sweating like crazy from the pain and being anxious. Also, bring some nice granny panties to put in afterwards! I bled pretty heavy for a while after!
Just being real with you! Maybe yours won’t hurt :)

I had no pain at all. Barely any discomfort inserting the speculum but that’s it. I took a 800mg ibuprofen

I had one done yesterday. It was painful, but bearable. It took only about 5 minutes for the whole procedure.

Follow your drs instructions. I can assure you this much, if you plan to be pregnant and deal with labor, you can manage 10 minutes of possible discomfort! I hope everything turns out well for you!

Take ibuprofen like 45 min before hand trust me it'll help otherwise it was just strong cramping for a couple minutes
