Can a cervix check start labor?

I’m almost 37 weeks today and had a cervix check. (I was 2 cm dilated) Now I’m having really awful cramps about 5 minuets apart for the past hour. Is it possible the check started early labor? Or is this normal after these appointments?

It can definitely give you contractions. My first check gave me some serious contractions. But they stopped after an hr or so. The second check helped push me farther into the labor I was prob already in. The checks were a week apart at my 36 and 37 wk appts

I’d call L&D; and see if they want you to come in to be checked.

im curious also i had mine checked but im 40 weeks and now am in a lot of pain every 10 to 12 minutes
