From 0-60 in 2 hours! 🏎

I have so enjoyed reading the birth stories on this page, especially as I heated my due date I could barely stay off the page!

This was my second labor and delivery, the first was a baby girl in 2013 with a total of 12 hours “active labor” and 30 minutes pushing completely natural hospital birth with a minor tear requiring two stitches.

I was anticipating a version of this birth for my second delivery of a baby girl due Feb 24th of this year. I had prepared as previously before with my birthing ball and other various methods I had used to make sure my body was ready for the marathon! Well instead of slow and steady my body decided it would sprint! I woke up Friday the 16th of Feb to slight cramps and part of my mucus plug coming. This continued all day followed by some bloody show. Still no contractions so I went about my business as usual. 17th was the same thing except I felt EXHAUSTED! I slept 10 hours followed by a 3hour nap then another 2hour nap in the afternoon. We had a birthday party to go to so we loaded up my two step daughters (age 13 twins) and our 4.5 year old daughter and off we went! Still no contractions! My parents took my 4.5 year old home with them for a sleep over and at around 8pm we arrived home and all went to bed.... except me I couldn’t sleep and I noticed I was having some light contractions so I grabbed a water bottle and figured I’d take a relaxing bath..... fast forward to 11pm contractions are strengthened, timetable at 5min apart lasting 1 min and I can feel it! It’s time! I call labor and delivery to let them know were coming in, wake and gather my husband and step daughters( to drop at their grandmas) and we head out. An hour later we check in to triage. They check me in dilated to a four and baby is on her way! Suddenly I feel a huge urge to urinate, I’m still hooked up to monitors so I ask my husband to peek out the door and ask if I can be unhooked to use the restroom.... I swing my legs over the side of the bed and no sooner do my feet touch the floor than I feel a “GOOSH”! I look at my husband and say “UT OH my water just broke!” My midwife came I and I told her last time they broke my water at 7cm and 1 hour later I was a 10 ready to push, it was intense! They quickly take me to a room and I overhear the midwife say to the nurse “I’m not leaving her alone I giver her 2hours tops before pushing”😳 contractions immediately start coming hard and strong they take me to the tub room as requested where I labor for 1 hour 45 minutes. It was awful with piggybacking back labor contractions and a ton of pressure from her head progressing me FAST! All of a sudden I feel a big contraction coming and I swear it was like her head shot down! Took my breath clean away! I was assisted exiting the tub and they could see hair! I got on all fours on the bed and couldn’t control the urge to push (as my body was mostly doing it for me) less than five minutes later she was born! I have never experienced something so intense nor did I expect a labor so quick!
