HCG test denied by OB?

Has anyone else had trouble with getting their OB doctors to check your HCG levels with early pregnancy? Mine told me they don’t do that and will see me at 8 weeks. I had a MMC in December and would like to know it is rising to calm my mind.  I see TONS of women that just go get theirs HCG checked on this app and I’m wondering why they won’t check mine?

Your OB denied it because it’s not medically necessary and has no bearing on medical decision making. I think about it the same way I think about asking for a CAT scan or something. 
My doc offered me HCG bloods because I miscarried just before the new pregnancy, but I declined because it wasn’t medically necessary. She wouldn’t have even offered if I hadn’t just miscarried.

My ob wouldn’t do it either even though I had a miscarriage last year. With that pregnancy the first thing they did was test my levels but my ob said that was only because I’d been having spotting (which I wasn’t worried about, thinking it was implantation bleeding). It sucks when all you want is reassurance but your doc treats pregnant women all day long so trust her!! If it’s still early I would suggest getting some line tests. I got my first positive 3 weeks 3 days and then kept testing every couple days until the line would show up darker than the control line. HPTs measure hcg too so it’s kind of a cheapie way to do it at home to give ya some peace of mind! Much love !!! ❤️

I told my dr I was having a lot of cramping/pain on one side, and they ran the tests. (which I was).  If you give them a medical basis to do the tests (such as a lot of cramping/pain  on one side), then they have a medical reason to do them.

Yes. My dr refused to do mine. I had some questionable spotting that turned into a mc so when they finally checked my levels it was too late. With the second pregnancy, I demanded that they test me. Unfortunately that also ended in mc. My drs excuse was “the test is very expensive” 🙄🙄
My specialist has been much better about it and this time they tested as soon as I got a positive, but I’m also on progesterone supplements so they were checking that as well.

A friend of mine said her previous OB wouldn’t do it. I’ve had one miscarriage, and for this current pregnancy my OB/GYN had it tested 3 times without question.

I just had mine checked for the first time today - waiting on results currently. I’m 6w+4d. It’s perfectly normal for them to wait until about this time. I don’t even meet with the nurse for awhile either and my OB is at 12 weeks. I talked with my friends & all of this is normal. Especially if you’re not at risk.
