I purposed to my boyfriend. He was surprised but very happy. He still blushes when I call him fiancée.

It was a simple decision for me. I love him, and tradition in 2018 is kinda played out at this moment.

We just celebrated a year on the 14th of this month and tomorrow we are going to a romantic popular jazz club.

EDIT #2 the restaurant was beautiful and the food delicious. We fell in love all over again that night.

I did it in the confront of our home. He doesn’t like attention and frills so I just asked him to close his eyes and slipped on the 14K white gold wedding band.

He was surprised, he was beaming and had now shown me a more deeper devoted love that I thought I would never experience. It’s like we’re in love all over again.

It’s thin (2mm) modest (with an engraving or “never enough time” inside) and just beautiful against his skin.

Yes our friends and family is against my idea, and us getting married, saying a 27 and a 24 year old “isn’t ready” despite the wedding being planned for 2020.

We haven’t announced it, and most likely won’t. It’s our business alone and those will find out through us if we desire. Less drama.

It’s his friends mostly and those outside looking in; that disagreed with the proposal. They said because he “can’t support me” I should wait until he can.

Um. My first husband (divorced) was a controlling nasty man. He made a lot of money, but He never let me do anything for myself without negative repercussions. I wasn’t allowed to even look at the bills, let alone ask about them. When he asked for a divorce, I was terrified with no money and a 5 year old about to start school.

After I got back on my feet within a few months, I got everything myself and even got a great job working from home. I enjoy my freedom and independence with money now; including someone like my fiancée to help with anything I financially fumble on.

I made a decision after that ugly divorce to never rely on anyone again for finances, and we are always a team. We both pay bills, we both know what’s going on.

So when people ask me “he can’t support me” I say “good, because we support each other”. This isn’t 1840 where it was simple to support a woman and a child. It’s difficult now, and New Jersey (where I live now) is very expensive.

And as for the wedding. We’re going to pay for it ourselves, like I did with my first marriage (it was a modest garden wedding) He wants things a certain way and I aim to please. 😊.
