My gynecologist is recommending that I get the Mirena IUD not only because I’m looking for birth control but because we need to regulate my out of control periods, she’s getting back various test results and will let me know if we can go ahead at my next appointment

My cycles were coming every two weeks and at this point there’s no clear distinction and I can bleed at any time, especially after sex. The bleeding is heavy enough I take iron supplements and my family history is not pretty

The thought is the hormones will help stabilize this, I was also wondering what people’s experiences with the Mirena IUD are and how the hormones affect you (FYI I’ve never been pregnant)

Thoughts? Suggestions??
