High functioning autism...?

I'm in love with a man with high functioning autism. It's starting to show me that there are going to be some struggles being together long term. They're not deterring me at all because of how much I love and adore him. I wanted to ask though,  anyone have experience with loving someone with high functioning autism or even have it to some degree?

My sister in law is a high functioning autistic person. She does everything on her own for the most part. He problem is the way she shows emotion. I mean she also has a hard time with learning although she made the dean's list in college this year with no help. When she is sad about something and wants to cry she laughs. She loves people the same. She cares about people the same. She has several health problems to. But she has a long term boyfriend that loves her todeath. Just know they try and even on the bad days they are trying. It's just a bit more difficult.

My husband is high functioning autism as well as ptsd some days are harder than others but you have to remember he sees the world differently than you do and he will react differently to situations. Every now and again he will need space to be alone. Give it to him. Don't argue just let him have his day. It's worth it

I've not experienced being in love with or having autism, but I am a care provider for a day program for developmentally disabled adults. I can understand where you are coming from, as I have met and spent a lot of time with people on all points of the spectrum.
