Baby Gas

My 3 week old has gas. Everytime I try to burp him after breastfeeding, he is always unsettled and is constantly looking for my nipple. He farts and his cries do sound like he is trying to exert pressure.

my midwife did mention that babies can confused gas pains for hunger.

so far if he still show signs of hunger even after I think he had enough milk, I still offer him more. but I am worried I might be overfeeding him adding to his discomfort from over eating. he looks insatiable. initially I thought it might be a growth spurt, but now I don't think so.

I just feels like that if gas is the cause of him crying and being unsettled, then I am just making things worse by giving him more milk. because he is actually sucking too and not just doing shallow sucks.

anyone else has similar gas problem with newborn?

based on his weight gain he is definately getting good amount of milk. he hasn't vomitted or had spit up of milk that would confirm over eating. but I am just not sure.

I just wanted to check if there are other options before I introduce gas drops or gripe water to my new born.
