Can progesterone pills cause a late period?

Hello my dr put me on progesterone pills and told me to take them until my period starts. Well I’m 14 days in and my period is two days late has anyone been late on there period while taking progesterone?

Alright ladies I just called my obgyn the type of progesterone she put me on should not have delayed my period she said she put me on it to help implantation and to support a baby. She saids my period should have started by now and If it does not start by Thursday to come in and get a blood pregnancy test cause that’s her only thought as to why my period has not started is pregnancy so I’m hoping for the best.

You take progesterone for 10 days only typically. It will drop after a few days and you should then get your flow. Continually taking progesterone will cause you to miss your period. Ask your dr to clarify

Progesterone pills cause a rise in progesterone levels, after you stop taking them, the fall of the hormone will cause a period to start. Generally progesterone is taken for 5-10 days depending on the physician. Period starts within a week or so after you stop.

I my experience, progesterone delays a period. I’m not a doctor or aware of every situation in which it’s used, but from my experience taking it multiple times I never got my period until s few days after stopping the pills. Now I don’t know your Dosage or situation. Again, that was just me.
