He is a very rude and hurtful husband

So I was with my husband at a his gym tonight and I was talking with the owners wife and she too is pregnant (she is a few weeks behind me) and she was telling me about her doctors appt. And how the doctor told her that she needed to cut down on the eating because she gaining too much weight. Now I'm a smaller than her and that was always a comment she made that it wasn't fair that I was not gaining as much weight as her or she would ask if I was eating or not because I was so skinny, everytime she saw me it was something new about my weight. I would just laugh it off and not really pay any mind.
But her husband came up and said "did my wife tell you what the doctor said, He said she has to stop eating" he said cracking up  I look to his wife who now looks very sad and hurt. He asked me how much have I gained I told him 5 to 10 lbs I believe. He looks to his wife and says " how is she before you and your bigger than her, you eat too much." I said in her defense "now the doctor could be wrong I think she looks great" he objected saying she had a steak last night, and that she eats more than him now all she does is eat. I just stood there. I mean I was in shock complete embarrassment for her.
I know it's a very touchy subject for women during pregnancy to talk about their weight gain so to have your husband "poke fun" in a sense about your weight I found so hurtful.
Men don't seem to understand, carrying a baby isn't as easy as it seems and not all body types are the same.
Now my husband can say some silly things (see post about "unhealthily baby") so I can understand her hurt. I swear it must be an army thing. Lol
