My birth story
I gave birth to my first child last night! She was 7.9lbs and exactly 1 week over due. Two nights ago I was having period like cramps but the were very inconsistent in timing, length and pain so I was convinced it was was false labour. After being awake all night I decided it was time to go to the hospital. Turns out they were contractions and I was 4cm dialated. So I was admitted and had my water broken to speed things up. 3 hours later I was still stuck at 4cm so I allowed them to give me pitocin. I got the lowest does and it made my contractions feel 100x worse. I asked for the epi and that hurt! But the relief was amazing. I progressed to 8'cm and was able to rest. But 830 we were almost ready to push. I always thought that with an epi you don't feel anything. WRONG I felt all the pressure which actually helped with the pushing. But I also felt her come out as well as the stretching and tearing. I have a first degrees tear and minor stiches. My poor little Emily swallows mecomium and had to
Spend the night in NiCU but she is doing great. I will hopefully get to breast feed today. I expressed some colostrum last night. The nurses truly make your birthing experience and mine were wonderful.
