I'm going for my first time today and I'm very nervous. What do I expect? How did your first go? /.\ thanks!

Well its uncomfortable to say the least. They do breast exam and a pelvic exam. So just be prepared for a stranger to be looking at your naughty bits.

I got hit on in the waiting room by some creepy guy (it really didn't help my nerves). but honestly my firstly I visit was great and my doctor was so nice and understanding. The small discomfort you may (and I mean maybe) feel is worth it. Your health is important  :) I hope your visit goes well

At my doctor, they have you fill out forms about your health and your sexual activity, then you pee in a cup and they check you weight and blood pressure. Then you in the exam room and they'll tell you to take everything off and put on the gown. Then my doctor's medical assistant comes in to go over the forms and then the doctor comes in. She always starts with asking if I have an questions or concerns, then she does the breast exam. Then she has you scoot to the end of the exam table & put your feet in the stirrups & spread your knees. My doctor always explains what she's doing as she examines the outside, then puts the speculum in and does the Pap smear, and then inserts 2 fingers and presses on my abdomen to check my ovaries and uterus. The whole pelvic exam takes less than 5 minutes and deep breathing while focusing on something else is really helpful. My doctor even has posters of nature and pretty art on the ceiling for you to look at. 
I would tell the doctor it's your first exam and you're nervous, they know it's awkward and a little scary and will be nice.
