how to keep cats out of cribs?

how do u keep your cat from suffocating your baby? shitting the door isnt an option becuase they just meow and rip up the cheap a** carpet my building put in

I've heard using a platic.mat with the little spikes on it for grip works. lay the mat spike side up in the crib and kitty will not want to lay in there. I've heard keeping them out of the room altogether is bad and can promote kitty to act out, since to them it's their house and their territory.

Put a towel under the door and spray with apple cider vinegar it should discourage the scratching.. that's about the only thing I can think of though, never had a problem like the crib issue with our cat

I had to train my cats that scratching at the door did not make us open it for them.  It made for about a week or so of interrupted sleep since he wanted to be in there with us at night but honestly if the carpet is cheap anyways 🤷🏽‍♀️ let it scratch. We had cheap carpet too and they wore a spot in it but now we keep all the bedroom doors closed and they don’t care.

Before baby arrived we put aluminum foil in the baby’s bed, cats hated it and never tried to get in it. They ended up not wanting to be near baby either, I just tonight saw one of the cats in baby’s room at night for the first time and baby’s 17 months old.

my cat jumped in the crib ONE TIME in my daughter's whole life while she was in there. I was so paranoid about it bc kitty would sleep in the crib any time DD wasn't in her crib. the very first night I put baby in the crib for the night, I slept in her room. as I was settling in, kitty jumps in the crib almost right on top of my baby! scared her half to death but somehow my daughter (who would wake up at the sound of my knees creaking) slept through it. kitty never went in the crib even when DD wasn't using it after that. I kept a blanket on the crib mattress between naps and removed it for sleeps so DD wasn't covered in fur all the time. I second the suggestion to keep a cat bed in the room so they know they are welcome to "their" territory but they have a specific place to call their own in there.

before baby was born we put balloons in crib to scare cats when they tried to jump in. Worked like a charm, they never bother it and we leave door open all the time unless he is in there. When he is in there we shut the door as you cant predict what they might do. We had to get them used ot staying out of our room when baby was in out room so we shut door and taped balloons to outside of door on bottom, seem silly but they stayed away!

My cats wanted nothing to do with the crib once my baby was in it. Before she was born, they thought I’d set up a special kitty bed just for them!
