Leo's birth story

Emily • Wife, mama, nurse practitioner
At 2am June 8th I woke up with a dull back pain that was coming and going in waves, they continued to come every 4 minutes lasting about 40 seconds. Around 5 the contractions were starting to get unbearable so we packed up and got to the hospital at 6 . They checked me and I was dialated to 4cm and was contracting every 3 minutes, so they admitted me and got me an epidural an hour later. I was stuck at 4cm so they gave me pitocin to speed things and broke my water. At 6:30pm I was fully dialated and ready to push. I pushed for 2.5 hours his head was crowning but not coming out, the doctor realized his head was just not going to fit out of my pelvis, so I had to go for a c
Section which I was so disappointed about and I cried up until they cut me open. During the c section they actually had to push him back up into my uterus to be able to pull him out because I had pushed him so far down. At 9:44pm I finally heard him cry. It was definitely how I had hoped this all would go but I'm so blessed to have him.
My husband held up great through the whole time I can't be more proud to have both my boys in my life
