Did a pacifier makes your baby have nipple confusion?

Hi! FTM Mom here to a 5 day old and EBF. I didn’t want to use a pacifier because i read about nipple confusion but sometimes it’s the only thing to get him to actually sleep and not cry to be on me. 
I’m a little stressed about being a new mom and want don’t want to confuse him 😩

Mine never get nipple confusion bug it did alter her latch. She started latching really shallow and would fight me when I would adjust it because of the pacifier. Having said that, we worked through it and the pacifier saved her sanity and mine. 
Babies have a very strong and natural urge to suck. So without the pacifier there would be sometimes she couldn’t soothe herself. 
I have read you can use your finger instead though!

Once you master breastfeeding and the latch, it doesn’t really have much effect. Most babies can tell the difference and would prefer the boob when they want to drink as it’s attached to mommy. Now using bottles early in the wrong way (not pace feeding) can cause bottle preference as babies get used to the instant flow of milk.

Mine never got nipple confusion but I waited a couple to few weeks to introduce. It gets better, don’t worry!

My twins have gone back and forth from breast to bottle since day 1 and we added a pacifier when they were about a week old (only one of them will take a pacifier) and neither of them has ever had nipple confusion.

I used a nipple shield, soother and bottle from the first week and my baby never had any issues.

😕 My 1st Born did get nipple confusion, so I couldn't use a pacifier with her 😞 luckily she was a calm baby 😊 with my now 2nd Baby I had to use a pacifier because she would cry each time she didn't have my Breast because she wanted to also use my Breast as a pacifier 😐 I didn't want to use a pacifier at all just because of my experience with my 1st Born BUT I totally had a change of heart when she turned 3 weeks old and decided a pacifier was gonna be needed 😩 and luckily 🙌👏 No nipple confusion with my 3 week old Baby 😁 and she latches on beautifully to my Breast 😀🤗
