Best read EVER for “do’s and don’ts”
I just finished reading this book called “Expecting Better” by Emily Oster and holy cow it changed my life. The author is an economist who specializes in healthcare issues, and during her TTC journey she delved deep into what she describes as “why the conventional pregnancy wisdom is wrong, and what you REALLY need to know”. She researched everything from coffee consumption (in specific amounts), to sushi, cheese, cat poop, birth plans, bed rest, weight gain, etc. Turns out a lot of what we think we know and even what our doctors tell us is just plain wrong, or just misleading. I highly recommend this to anyone and everyone either TTC or already preggo. I personally thought I did my homework quite thoroughly when I was PG with my son 12 years ago, but after reading this and the explanations behind why, I now know I was WAY over cautious about a lot of things, and not cautious enough about others.
If anyone has already read it, what did you think? What was most enlightening for you?
