What is clomid?

So the DH and I haven't gotten into the fertility stuff just yet but I keep seeing posts about clomid. What is it supposed to do or help with?

It stimulates egg growth. And the more mature eggs you have the more likely it is for you to ovulate. Only downside (if you see it as one which I don't) chance of multiples :) I'm currently on my second cycle of clomid.
